 ¡Vuelve el Reto de Marzo (MMM'11)! La estupenda Zoe vuelve a organizar un mes en el que todos los días llevas puesto algo hecho por ti misma. ¿Cansada de coser prendas bonitas que no ven la luz del sol? ¿Languidecen en el armario los frutos de tu esfuerzo? Esta es la patada en el trasero que necesitas para atreverte a vestir lo que coses.

En septiembre del año pasado me uní al Self Stitched September (SSS - traducido por mí como el Reto de Septiembre) y fue una experiencia enriquecedora a muchos niveles que me hizo replantearme algunas cosas. Debido a movidas personales sólo aguanté las primeras dos semanas, eso sí, como una campeona. Dios sabe que no estoy preparada para otro mes de estresss estas aventuras y que sólo coso vestidos que son inadecuados para la vida oficinil, pero allá van mis propósitos (one more time!):

- coser prendas ponibles.

- ponerme las prendas que coso, aunque no sean ponibles.

Lo dejo ahí, porque ponerme metas fijas tipo terminar el vestido vintage coser unos pantalones no funcionan conmigo y corro en la dirección opuesta. Y mi novio piensa que necesito otro reto tanto como un agujero en la cabeza (esta expresión queda mejor en inglés) pero voy a saltar al vacío* y de verdad hacerlo.

Asi que la pregunta es: ¿Quién se apunta? No seas gallina y apúntate, es toda una experiencia.

*Hablando de saltos al vacío (o más bien de batacazos), la blusa morada se va a quedar en una prueba que quizás me ponga, pero lo más seguro que no. Por lo menos me ha servido para practicar técnicas (fruncidos - aargh!) porque de verdad quiero coser ese patrón en una tela bonita.

Me Made March is back! The great Zoe is again at it, a whole month wearing only garments made by ourselves. Tired of sewing nice pieces that don’t ever see the daylight? Is the product of your effort languishing in your closet? Well, this is the kick in the butt that you need to dare to wear what you sew!

Last September I also joined the Self Stitched September and was such a enriching experience on so many levels. I had some personal issues during that month and I only managed to complete the first 2 weeks, but boy did I soldier on those weeks. God knows that I’m not ready for such an stressful month adventure and that I only sew pretty dresses that are not office friendly, but here are my MMM resolutions:

- Sew wearable garments.

- Wear the garments that I sew, even if they are not wearable.

I’m stopping here, because fixed deadlines or goals like finishing my vintage dress sewing a pair of trousers simply doesn’t work for me, I tend to run in the opposite direction. My boyfriend thinks that I need another challenge like I need a hole in the head, but I’m jumping without a net*, I really am.

So the question is: who's in? Come on, don't be a chicken and join us, it'll be fun!

*Talking about jumping without a net, let me rephrase that, crashing spectacularly, the purple blouse is going to become a muslin that I may wear, most likely not. At least it’s useful to practice some techniques (gathering – aargh!) because I really want to make this pattern with a nice fabric.
